In Memory of "SIR JULES MAC"

1

We were lucky enough to purchase Mac in 1985 as a two year old from Wayne Anderson in Richland Center, Wisconsin. We had no idea how he would change our lives. We hired the help of Gary Gibson to assist us in the training area and we started going to Palomino Shows. Needless to say, we were hooked. We´ve been showing Palomino ever since. I know we will show Palomino forever.

CHECK OUT "MAC´S PEDIGREE"

"MAC" accumulated numerous Wisconsin state high points over the years. Over the years, he accumulated 153 PHBA halter points and 71 PHBA performance points. He completed ROM´s in Halter, Western Pleasure and Trail. He also accumulated points in Color, Amateur Halter, Amateur Western Pleasure, Amateur Trail and Amateur Horsemanship. I showed him at the World Show in 1988 in Open Stallions and place 4th out of 9. Back then women didn´t show stallions, so I was tickled to finish 4th among all the trainers. MAC has been a PHBA Top 10 producer in the open, amateur and youth divisions, and still is today.

"MAC" made his first appearance on Stallion Avenue at the Midwest Horse Fair as a 3 year old in 1986. Leslie McDonald, who was in charge of the Horse Fair back then, noticed this gorgeous golden horse as he came out of his Stallion Review and asked if we would be interested in representing the Palomino´s in the Parade of Breeds and if we would maybe consider starting up a future Palomino demonstration. At that time, there was no Palomino Demonstration at the Midwest Horse Fair. Of course, we gladly agreed and there has been a Palomino Demonstration ever since, which grew from a couple of horses to a dozen or more today. Those of you that have been to the Midwest Horse Fair, will of course, remember and never forget the famous "RED DRESS" that I rode him in for the demo.

"MAC" continued to be a hi-light of the Liberty Presentation over the years flying back and forth from one end of the Coliseum to the other to the music of George Strait and the Packers. I know I had all I could do to hang on to him during his Stallion Reviews because he knew this was a place he could "run free" and get away with anything and everything

And who could forget the "Lynn Anderson" concert. Wayne Williams gave me a day warning that they wanted to use "MAC" for the horse she was to perform on. Now, you have to remember, that this horse was retired to Stud from the show ring, and maybe got ridden once a year (at the Horse Fair). Being the gentlemen that he was, he performed perfectly. She enjoyed the ride so much, that she called later that year and used him for another concert at the Festival of the Horse in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

"MAC" was a big part of the Midwest Horse Fair over the next 15 years, always having the same stall on Stallion Avenue, where people would come to visit with him every year. His son, "JULES FOURTEEN KARAT" now occupies that stall. "MAC" was used for the Horse Fair Promo TV ads and the Photo Ads. We thought about not bringing him a few times, but people told us that the Horse Fair would never be the same. I know it will never be the same for us. "MAC" was a big part of our lives and his memory will live on in the faces of the offspring that we still have out of him. Without him, who knows if we would have ended up showing and promoting these Palomino Horses all these years. For those of you that still have your "MAC" babies, treasure them because a horse like "MAC" only comes along once in a lifetime.

Bubba-Sammy-Dee the three are all full brothers and sister

Mike and I would like to thank everyone who has supported "MAC" over the years. The list of people is endless and I would hate to miss someone, so thanks to everyone. He was our "special horse" and a part of our family. We lost "MAC" to complications due to colic on October 31, 2000. We will miss him greatly, but hope that his son "JULES FOURTEEN KARAT" will carry on his tradition of those gorgeous golden babies with beautiful heads and exceptional dispositions.

These photos are just a sampling of MAC´s life with us. We hope you enjoy them, as you visit our website. Please feel free to email us at mmotelet@facstaff.wisc.edu and share any of your "MAC" stories.
